Matt Simpson

Hi.  Thank you for time and attention here.

My expertise and passion is transforming business to enable large social systems to achieve their greatest potential. Currently, I work in the IBM Corporate CIO organization, leading a number of efforts to enable IBMers to achieve their greatest potential.

I hold the role of Business Architect & Sr. Program Manager within the Workplace Architecture Team, in the IBM Total Workplace Experience Center of Excellence.  One of my primary responsibilities is to manage the CIO Innovation Harvesting Process, where we prioritize and accelerate high-priority innovation as it graduates from our Technology Adoption Program.  I also develop the Business Architecture Roadmap of the Total Workplace Experience.

Within the IBM CIO Organization, I have led the development, deployment, and lifecycle support IBM’s CommunityMap, which is our enterprise online application to support internal communities.  I also performed the role of Project Delivery Team Leader for ThinkPlace, Solution Seller Workplace, and Strategic Taxonomy Tool.  As a subject matter expert and evangelist within knowledge management, I have co-lead IBM’s internal Knowledge Management Community, as well as launched our internal CommunityBuilders community.

Prior to joining the CIO Organization, I was the Research Manager for Lotus Institute where we studied collaboration and the collaborative process within teams, communities, and the creative problem solving process.  The work on communities continued as Lotus Institute merged with Lotus Research, and was a conceptual forerunner (in 1998) to CommunityMap and Lotus Connections Communities.
